Turner School Conversion to District 2 Police Station
The District 2 Police have moved into their newly renovated building, originally built as the Turner School in 1898, it has been named a historical site. As such, the renovation had to be minimally invasive in the habitable areas, but still need to serve all of the needs of a modern police station. Mechanical equipment rooms and spaces were carved out of the existing attic space and parts of the lower level. The mechanical systems consist of a two-pipe perimeter fan-coil system deriving ventilation air from an attic mounted dedicated air handler, with interior spaces served by an independent variable air volume air handler. These systems are supported with an outdoor mounted air-cooled chiller, and high-efficiency boilers. Consolidated Consulting Engineers also designed the new electrical distribution system, plumbing system, and the fire protection. The building was completed in early 2017.
